BULATS Blended Learning Course

How does the BULATS Blended Learning Course work?

The course has been designed so that the materials studied online will be consolidated with classroom teaching delivered through a registered Tuition Provider. This could be provided by a tutor face-to-face or in a virtual classroom setting.

You would normally study between 60%–70% of the course online and 30%–40% in the classroom, a total of 50 hours of learning.

This BULATS Blended Learning Course offers 50 hours of study.

What does the BULATS Blended Learning Course include?

The course is organised into 3 modules:

  • Reading and Listening Module (30 hours)
  • Speaking Module (10 hours)
  • Writing Module (10 hours).

The modules are split into 50 lessons with hundreds of interactive practice exercises based on input from written and spoken sources (audio and video) which are commonly used in a work or business situation. Topics covered include Careers and Recruitment, Service Industry, Wholesale and Retail, Company Performance, Communications.

How are classroom sessions organised and structured?

Classroom sessions, whether face-to-face or virtual, are organised by the Tuition Provider in liaison with their teaching staff and are arranged to fit in with an individual’s or organisation's time schedule.

What level of language is the BULATS Blended Learning Course suitable for?

The BULATS course is mapped from levels B1 to C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). For information on this, please refer to the following page on the Cambridge ESOL website.

How many hours per week are learners expected to study?

This is entirely up to the course provider to decide. As a guide, if learners are expected to complete the course over a period of 3 months, the weekly average total study time would be 4 to 5 hours split between working online and in the classroom.

Do I get a certificate when I have completed the BULATS Blended Learning Course?

The BULATS Blended Learning Course is not certificated.  Learners who have completed the course successfully should be ready to take the BULATS test. To take the test, you must register with an approved Agent. These can be found via the following page of the BULATS website

Does the course contain any previous test papers for me to practice?

No, the course doesn't contain any previous test papers. However, sample papers for the Standard (paper-based) BULATS test can be downloaded from the Sample tests page on the BULATS website.

BULATS Self-study Course (100% Online)

How does the BULATS Self-study Course work?

This is a fully online course. Learners work through interactive practice exercises and receive immediate feedback for the Reading and Listening components. Learners can compare their work to model answers in Speaking and Writing.

What level of language is the BULATS Self-study Course suitable for?
